Lake Kivu Muhari Washing Station 

This Rwanda Peaberry is a specially delicious coffee. The "Peaberry" is unique in coffee cultivation as only one bean is produced in each coffee cherry. This results in a rounder and denser bean that provides more distinct flavors that are a favorite of coffee afficionados world wide. We are fortunate to have roasted and enjoyed this very smooth, full bodied coffee that we roast until the second crack. Is had become one of our favorites here at Rio Coco.

The farms are located in the Western Province of Rwanda near the shores of lake Kivu. Here lies the Muhari C.W.S washing station. Sitting between 1800 meters and 2200 meters, this mill is roughly 10 hectares and employs about 200 people daily. The small farms surround the mill bring their hand picked crop here for depulping, washing and raised screen drying. This washing station is an important element to the growing coffee industry in this formerly war-torn country.
